Reviving Local Business – Coca-Cola Foundation
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, local businesses across Egypt were among the hardest hit. In 2022, I was invited to document a grassroots initiative by Coca-Cola and The Coca-Cola Foundation aimed at reviving neighborhood grocery shops and informal vendors.
The program offered more than just aid; it provided tools for long-term survival: refrigerators, stocked goods, tricycles, bicycles, and practical support to help create over 5,000 job opportunities. My role was to capture the human stories behind this effort, from shopkeepers reopening their shutters with pride to delivery boys navigating Cairo’s backstreets on their new bikes.
It was a reminder that meaningful change often starts small and local.
I was the Cinematographer and Editor on this project as part of a lean crew, focusing on intimate, cinematic visuals that honored the daily lives of Egypt’s working class and the resilience of the community.
